Video Creative: Paid, Organic, and the Scripts Behind Them
A mix of paid and organic work — ads that borrow an organic feel, organic pieces that later got put behind spend, and everything in between. Most of this I shot and edited myself; a few I directed and handed to someone else to cut. All of it started as a script.
Paid ads and organic content that don’t always stay in their lane: comedy skits, a product explainer, a fundraiser update, a two-part brand story, a customer testimonial, seasonal promos. Some of it was built for spend from day one. Some of it started as a regular post and earned a budget after it worked.
Every piece starts as a shot list — timing, visual, audio, on-screen text, mapped out before anyone picks up a camera. Below are 3 full scripts, exactly as handed off for filming, including the two-part “Bros on a Mission” sequence that’s in the reel above.
Most of what’s here I shot and cut myself. A few I directed and someone else edited. I’m not precious about which — the deliverable is what matters, and I can do either end of it.
Script 1 — “Shofar Is Calling”
ROSH HASHANAH CATERING PREORDER · ~15–20s · SOUND ONConcept: “can hear it” — built to be heard mid-scroll, not just seen.
| Time | Visual | Audio | On-screen text |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–2s | Extreme close-up of the shofar. Instrument only, no context yet. | A terrible, off-key attempt at the shofar. Ugly, dry sound. | — |
| 2–4s | Zoom out reveals Sam blowing the shofar (clearly badly), leaning out the window. It lands that it’s him and he’s struggling. | Same painful shofar sound. | (optional, small) “Sam, warming up.” |
| 6–8s | Comedic cutaway: birds scattering + a deer startles, snaps its head up, stares. Sells that the sound was absurdly loud → funny. | Wings flapping / nature reacting. Comedy beat. | — |
| 8–14s | Cut back to Sam, now improvising to camera, relaxed and charming, talking Rosh Hashanah and inviting people to preorder catering. | Festive music kicks in as Sam starts talking. VO = Sam improvising. | — |
| 14–18s | End card / concept card: pun line + preorder CTA with deadline. | Festive music resolves and ends here. | “Shofar Is Calling. Can you hear it?” → Preorder Rosh Hashanah catering — order by [deadline] |
Talking points for the on-camera improv (shot 4): Rosh Hashanah’s coming — this year the only horn you’ll hear is the shofar, not you fighting over who cooks. We’ve got the whole spread — brisket, kugel, challah, the works — ready to preorder. Order early, skip the kitchen, actually enjoy the holiday.
Script 2 — “Knee Injury”
TREND HOOK → BAGEL PUNCHLINE · ~15–20s · SOUND ONConcept: ride a trend hook (Coco delivery robots), land the punchline on the actual product.
| Time | Visual | Audio | On-screen text |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–3s | Sam walking down the sidewalk. In frame, a Coco delivery robot rolling down the street — the new thing in the city. Hold a beat so it reads as the hook. | Street ambient. Sam humming / casual. | — |
| 3–6s | Sam “bumps” into the Coco — exaggerated and intentionally fake. Clearly forced, not a real collision. Lean into the bit. | Cartoonish bump SFX. | — |
| 6–9s | Sam drops to the ground, groaning that his knees hurt. | Sam: “Ah, my knees…” | — |
| 9–11s | Still on the ground, he says the only thing that’d make him feel better is a bagel. He looks up — the Zeitlin’s sign is right there. | Sam: “Only thing that’d fix this is a bagel.” Beat. “…huh, I think this place has bagels.” | — |
| 11–13s | Silent-movie transition: black card, old-film title style. | Music sting / needle-drop. Beat of silence. | “A few moments later” |
| 13–17s | Sam inside Zeitlin’s, happily eating a bagel. | Sam, content: “My knees feel so much better.” | (optional) Logo + “Zeitlin’s” |
| 17–18s | Fade to black. | Music out. | (optional CTA) — |
Script 3 — “Bros on a Mission” (2-part)
RENOVATION ANNOUNCEMENT · SOUND ON · BOTH PARTS IN THE REEL ABOVEPurpose: announce that construction was starting at the restaurant. Concept: wordless teaser builds anticipation, paid off in Part B with the permit announcement and demo day.
| Time | Visual | Audio | On-screen text |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–3s | The Zeitlin’s bros shot from behind, walking toward / into a Home Depot. | Confident, driving music bed. No dialogue. | “The Zeitlin’s bros are on a mission.” |
| 3–8s | Cut to them entering the store. They walk serious and focused — dead-ahead stares, moving down the aisles like they’re on a mission, until they find the aisle they want. | Music continues. Footsteps. No dialogue. | — |
| 8–10s | Detail insert: a hand grabs a hammer off the shelf. | Beat / SFX on the grab. | — |
| 10–13s | Cut to gloves (or another construction item). Two hands grab it and they walk out — in confident, out confident, taking exactly what’s needed. | Music. | — |
| 13–15s | End card. | Music cuts on the card. | “…Continue” (to-be-continued style) |
Intent: no explicit hook or VO — just “they’re on a mission.” Pure curiosity so people follow the story into Part B.
| Time | Visual | Audio | On-screen text |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0–3s | The Zeitlin’s bros inside the store, announcing the news to camera. | VO/dialogue: the city granted the permits to start the renovation. | (optional) “It’s official.” |
| 3–8s | They pick up the hammers and gear from Part A and start breaking things — demo begins. | Big impact SFX, energetic music. | — |
| 8–12s | Quick montage of the first demo hits. | Music peaks. | (optional) “Renovation starts now.” |
| 12–15s | End card. | Music resolves. | “Zeitlin’s is getting a makeover — [reopen date / follow for updates]” |
